In May 2026, a 6kW agrivoltaics pilot project was completed in South Sinai, Egypt. Led by 3E in partnership with ORC, Engazaat, and others, the project installs solar panels above crops to provide shading, reduce water evaporation and heat stress, while generating clean electricity. It is Egypt‘s first systematic test of agrivoltaics in an arid region, offering new solutions for desert regeneration and food security.
The team plans to scale the concept to 100kW and expand to other water‑scarce areas in Egypt. Agrivoltaics is particularly suitable for sun‑rich but water‑poor regions like the Middle East and Africa – panels generate power while improving the crop microclimate.
However, stable operation of agrivoltaics requires energy storage. Irrigation often occurs at night or early morning, while solar generation peaks during the day. Remote desert areas may have weak or no grid connections. Greenhouses, cold storage, and water pumps need continuous power – storage provides peak‑shifting, backup, and off‑grid capability.
Chasun Solar offers a one‑stop solar+storage solution for agrivoltaics:
- Modules: Jinko Tiger Neo 3.0 670W N‑type TOPCon (24.5%+ efficiency, 85±5% bifaciality, -0.26%/°C, <1% first‑year degradation) – rear‑side gain on sand, low temp coefficient proven in Middle East GW‑scale projects.
- Inverters: Deye hybrid inverters (3kW-80kW) with on/off‑grid switching, diesel generator input, 6 time‑of‑use periods, IP65 – ideal for off‑grid and weak grids.
- Batteries: Self‑developed 5/10/16kWh LiFePO₄ packs, 6,000 cycles, smart BMS, parallel‑expandable to hundreds of kWh – for irrigation, cold storage, nighttime use.
Factory‑direct, one‑stop supply for modules, inverters and batteries. Free system design, LCOE calculation, 12‑year warranty, 48‑hour global response. Developers and EPCs in Africa and the Middle East are welcome to partner with us for sustainable agriculture powered by solar+storage.
